Coconut flour and oil are wonderful for cooking. If you prefer a more mild flavor profile that matches what you are used to in your traditional recipes with butter or oil, use organic refined coconut oil. This is different than the virgin coconut oils and the cost is significantly cheaper. This oil is also better for your frying as your recipes will not taste like coconut and the smoking point of the refined is higher.
